Fy Chwaer a Fi, made by Boom Pictures Cymru, won a World Gold Medal at the New York Festivals Television and Film Awards 2013 for a documentary about two young women with extraordinary personalities, dealing with unique circumstances. Catherine and Kirstie Field lost their Welsh mother tongue because of a neurological illness and after not being able to speak for some time, their new electronic communication machines now enable them to talk and share their feelings with each other and the world. The machines speak many languages but not Welsh. Catherine and Kirstie now have electronic English voices but are at least able to communicate their spirit, bravery, intelligence and humour. Fy Chwaer a Fi (My Sister and I) is part of S4C’s documentary series O’r Galon (From the Heart).
