Ofcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK’s broadcasting, Telecommunications, wireless communications and postal sectors.
The Content Board is a committee of the Ofcom Board. It has delegated and advisory responsibility for a wide range of content issues, including content protection, broadcasting sanctions and radio and television licensing. It also sets and enforces quality and standards for television and radio.
Ofcom is seeking to recruit one new non-executive member for the Content Board.
Applicants for the post will demonstrate a clear understanding of issues to be faced in present and future content regulation in the digital age. An understanding of broadcast media is essential and specific knowledge andor experience of minority language broadcasting in the UK highly desirable. Candidates will need to demonstrate clarity, rigour, and independence of thought, as well as impartiality and a participative approach to decision making.
The time commitment is up to three days per month.
