ITV’s Director of Television, Peter Fincham, has written to producers with details of ITV’s Social Partnership – a third element the broadcaster plans to introduce to the commissioning process from today.
Made up of four sections – Inclusive Programming; Inclusive Workforce; Community and Causes; and Environmental Impact – the Social Partnership will sit alongside Editorial, and Business Affairs in the commissioning process, and signals ITV’s intention to work in partnership with the production sector to make a positive impact in these areas.
In a message to Creative Directors and Senior Executives at Indies across the sector, Peter Fincham said,
“ITV’s commissioning team will take responsibility for and ownership of our aim to better reflect the diversity of modern Britain on screen, and in delivering the aims of the Social Partnership across their slate of programming. But this is a partnership – we can only make change happen by working together.”
On the announcement of ITV’s Social Partnership with producers, Peter Fincham said,
“For me it’s simple, we want to keep making great programmes that appeal to the widest audience possible. To do this we need to understand and represent this audience in the widest possible sense. And more broadly, we believe our Social Partnership approach is the best approach for sustainable change, embedding a consideration of key areas of corporate social responsibility into our commissioning process.”
