At the heart of any onscreen success lies a storyteller with a great script.
ITV is committed to supporting talented diverse writers to ensure we continue to make captivating content that engages our audiences.
On Friday 4th October ITV, in conjunction with Fresh Voices UK, hosted the first in a series of ‘In Conversation With…’ events, aimed at supporting talented UK writers from BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic) backgrounds.
The series gives writers an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the programme making process – from development of the original idea through to production – by way of facilitated meetings with seasoned professionals from various disciplines. In this way the writers gain an understanding of the business behind their art.
Renowned film and television producer and founder of Left Bank Pictures, Andy Harries, together with Carol Russell, CEO of Fresh Voices UK, launched the first in the series of these events, sharing their knowledge and experience with our selected writers and invited professionals from across the industry which included BBC, Carnival, Channel 4, Creative Skillset, ITV, Left Bank Pictures, Red Planet, Shed and Slim Films.
Andy’s openness to share his experience across his expansive career provided great insights into the world of writing, development and producing. The event concluded with a vibrant networking opportunity, enabling our industry professionals to connect with the wealth of talent in the room.
