Work placements

Hamza Mohamed, 20, has set his sights high and aspires to a career in sports journalism. During his placement with ITV News last year, Hamza spent time with the Business Bureau and with the Specialist Events team. Having discovered the opportunity through his university twitter page, it was fitting that he also spent time with the online team.

Hamza said:

“Being a black male studying Journalism is tough purely because there are not that many that are doing [it] in the world so to get this first step and my foot in the door already is a privilege… I was grateful for the opportunity.”

Hamza’s Highlight:

“the most ‘valuable experiences’ were the master classes held by Robin Elias and writer David Stanley.”

“They both gave me the types of advice students like me are craving for. Someone to tell you exactly how it is, how they got there, and what you have to do reach where they’re at and I think that was the best thing.”
